6 months!

Just because I'm busy at work and I go on vacation doesn't mean you can't have new pictures of Penny, who turned 6 months last week! Time sure flies. She is eating real food now. She like sweet potatoes and pears but she hates carrots and can't wait for the day that science is able to make pureed fried chicken without losing the crispiness.

Penny and Aunt Kim, who is moving to California. Boo! Bad for Chicago, but I guess good for California and Uncle Rico.

Bad a$$ baby.

Penny reads up on Britney.

Happy 2008!

Only 13 days into the new year and so much to post about.

First, look who is sitting up by herself, little by little....

Saturday was a long day. Since Coya was at a retreat, Nina stayed over to maximize on Penny time. Friday night was a big bust, as the adults all conked out pretty early, but the exciting news is P-lo is finally sleeping in her crib! Mommy and Papa were cramping her style.

In the morning, PeePee got dressed up to meet some new friends.

P-lo looking like Top Chef in her little outfit.

I combed her hair and said, "Don't move. You don't want to ruin the mohawk." P complied.

She's been really good and laying on her stomach. The kid has great neck control. But sometimes, when she's tired, the arms give out.

But first, at stop at Costco and, hey while we're in the neighborhood, a quick stop at Sweet Tomatoes, the Salad Bar Buffet. Someone put a hat on her and when we took it off, her hair was a little Bill Murray-esque. Much cuter though.

Lactose intolerant Penelope looks the other way while Papa eats a spoonful of soft serve.

We finally made it to Christopher, Alexander, and Alaina's house. They are the kids of Mike and Sandy (who is an old friend of Nina and Mommy's).

Papa built paper airplanes with the boys while Penelope and Lanie played with toys.

After a nice visit, we went to buy Penny a highchair because it's almost time to be eating food!

This one was too big:

This one was too small:

This one was JUST right (okay, it was a little big, but indulge me):

After the long day, Mommy and Papa went out to dinner with Laura and Jose (sorry Penny couldn't make it, Jose!) and Nina watched Penny, who let out a few wimpers and then passed out cold.

The next morning, Nina woke up to an email with pictures of Penny's first food (besides the cucumber she gummed at Sweet Tomatoes a few months ago). Can you guess what it was? Not to get all stereotypical, but it was RICE! The food of half of her people. Hey man, if they made corn cereal for babies, we'd be all over that too.

Her very first bite:

Xmas Pictures!

Why, yes, Santa, I've been very good.

Xmas morning and the entire family is waiting for Grandma Carol to arrive. Penny takes a sneak peek at the presents under the tree.

F the things inside the boxes, P-lo likes the shiny bows.

I didn't open it, I swear!

Really, is this the face of someone who is lying to you?

Xmas bath!

And back to the presents...this time Penelope is interested in a different bow.

Happy Holidays!

While we wait for the Xmas picture technical difficulties to resolve themselves, let's flash back to the Saturday before Christmas, when Papa, Mommy, Nina, Irma and Penelope did the stupidest thing ever. They went to Woodfield Mall, one of the largest malls in Illinois. On the Saturday before Christmas. And because they had made the trek, they stayed longer than they wanted to to get as much "value" as they could.

Penny has never seen so many people!

Heeeeelllllp!

The day started fantastically, though, with lunch in the food court of the Japanese mall in Arlington Heights. No pictures, though, because the adults were too hungry.

Also, the Friday before Xmas, we had dinner celebrating Papa's birthday, at Francesca's, the place Nina and Coya found out about Penny, almost exactly one year ago. Not to brag, but several of the gays came over to tell us how beautiful the baby was. But we already knew. And no pictures of the cute baby because, again, adults were hungry.

These photos were taken yesterday and Penny is training for the circus! Clown college is ALOT cheaper than an out of state school, Papa!

P-lo is SO CHEEKY!

Making googly eyes at the remote? Mommy's side of the family.

17 Weeks

Oh man! Things have been hectic. No time to post.

Here's a picture of P-lo at her favorite restaurant, Sweet Tomatoes, contemplating the day she can have some of that herbed turkey soup.

Cute baby pictures:

Looking fierce in a dress and mohawk.

Penny works her core. I'm sorry, but babies don't get any cuter than this. My favorite picture of the year!

16 weeks?

I'm getting confused by age in weeks. All I know is that Penny was exactly 4 months old the last time I posted and that was last week, so she's 4 months and one week old today.

She just went to the doctor and she weighs 14lbs, 2oz. She's 24 inches. Both about average. But the big news is her head! 75th Percentile! Big Head Penny! Big head, big brain, I always say.

Don't remember when this photo was taken. I do remember someone had a melt down right after it was taken. Possibly because of the unending flash.

A fake smile if I ever saw one.

Yes, that's drool on the front of P-lo's shirt, but let's not dwell on that. Let's concentrate on how cute she is.

Penny tries on my hat.

When I opened the curtains, Penelope freaked out! A whole other world! And her first snowstorm!

Finger lickin' good!
