Well, lucky me, I got to spend the entire day with Penelope. It was an epic day. But to her credit, she was a great sport about it, she was in a good mood all day. She's SO smiley now, a bundle of sunshine. That is until the cameras are pulled out and then she refuses to smile.
It's a little chilly in Chicago right now, perfect weather for Grandma Susan and Aunt Nancy's jacket:
Mommy bought P-lo a new hat, a hat we like to call "The Punishment Hat." But Penny wears it well. We know we wouldn't look half as good.
Today's mission, find a dress for mommy for Ted and Blair's wedding.
We went downtown and the first thing we did was go to Oysy for lunch. Mommy ordered a little too much food and Penny was sad she had no teeth.
Penny makes what Coya calls "Nina face":
Chilling out at the Gap:
After an afternoon of shopping, a rest period for tea and italian soda and breast milk, we went to the Asian grocery store where Penny was a big hit.
She thinks Nina should get the fresh noodles:
Coya came by after rehearsal and didn't spill one drop of wine on the baby:
Grandpa Ed made a delicious dinner of Pad Lad Naa with Tofu and then Penny modelled the Punishment Hat along with her new chair. Look at that spine control! She kind of looks like the old Johnny Carson character Carnac the Magnificent and I feel old even writing this sentence.
But she's still cuter than cute!
We got a smile!

Almost forgot!
I almost forgot I had pictures of Penelope taken with Coya's cameraphone! These were taken on Monday, the day before Annie went back to work, a sad day indeed. Grandpa Ed says Penny cries all the time and when he puts her on her changing table, P-lo looks over to the bed, looking for her mother who is usually there watching the Food Network or E!News, but all she sees in an empty bed. Poor Penny! Poor Annie!

Penny was in Iowa this weekend, at Chris and Kate's wedding Here she is with Great Grandma Lois.
Wow, that's alot of Roewes in one picture, four generations worth!
Penny waits patietly for The Chicken Dance to come on.
Penny says, "I'm not smiling until you get off the phone!"
"Much better...."
Hanging out with the fam.
Aunt Christa and Cousin Aaron. Look how big he's getting!

Where's Penny?
You're probably wondering why there have been no posts in the past 10 days. No, Penelope and I did not have a falling out and no, none of us have gotten bored with her. Last weekend, she was in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin with her family and they were too enthralled by the local Mega Lo Mart, that they "forgot" to take pictures. And this weekend, they're off to Iowa for a wedding. So I've only gotten to see P-lo for a few hours a couple of times.
But I can tell you this:
1. She's huge! She no longer fits on a forearm or in her newborn clothes. She's one size up in her diapers and starting to grow out of her 0-3mos clothes.
2. She's really good at pulling herself up. She's got strong legs, that one. One day, she may win an Olymic medal in the ladies clean & jerk, like this lady:
But hopefully, not.
3. She's smiling left and right. She recognizes her Papa and her Mommy and her Grandpa, but not me. Unless, crying bloody murder every time I hold her counts as recognition. Maybe it's because I didn't have my camera.
Here are a few photos, taken from my phone. Excuse the quality. Blurry Penny is still better than no Penny, right?
Oh, and she's found her thumb! But she doesn't quite know what to do with the other fingers.

Visitors
What a busy weekend for Penelope. Lots of visitors in town to see her. They sure weren't in town for the crazy hot fall weather.
And hot weather means bathtime.
Mama said knock you ouuutt/I'm gonna knock you ouuuuttt
I said put down that camera.
What, you didn't hear me? Someone hold me back!
I'll cut you!
Yeah, that's right. Run away. You big baby!
You're lucky my mom's here. I woulda knocked you out.
Are you still here? Can't you see I'm busy with Grandma Sue? Get that camera outta here!

Halloweenie!
Got a call from Annie to meet for breakfast on Saturday morning and Coya and I got there early, so we did a little shopping.
Getting into the outfit:
Penny doesn't think this is a very good idea:
Really not a good idea:
Eventually, she realized her hands are not working well enough to unzip herself, so she learned to love the dog.
This is so humiliating...
Ha! The eating a hot dog joke just never gets old. Right, Penny?:
Nina looks for the extra mustard she ordered:
Everyone want their picture taken with the P-dog!
Encased P-lo.
Have you gotten it out of your systems, you adults? When you're old and I'm changing your diapers, I'm putting YOU in a hot dog outfit and we'll see how you like it!
After breakfast shopping and it's obvious Penny misses the hot dog outfit.
