While we wait for the Xmas picture technical difficulties to resolve themselves, let's flash back to the Saturday before Christmas, when Papa, Mommy, Nina, Irma and Penelope did the stupidest thing ever. They went to Woodfield Mall, one of the largest malls in Illinois. On the Saturday before Christmas. And because they had made the trek, they stayed longer than they wanted to to get as much "value" as they could.
Penny has never seen so many people!
Heeeeelllllp!
The day started fantastically, though, with lunch in the food court of the Japanese mall in Arlington Heights. No pictures, though, because the adults were too hungry.
Also, the Friday before Xmas, we had dinner celebrating Papa's birthday, at Francesca's, the place Nina and Coya found out about Penny, almost exactly one year ago. Not to brag, but several of the gays came over to tell us how beautiful the baby was. But we already knew. And no pictures of the cute baby because, again, adults were hungry.
These photos were taken yesterday and Penny is training for the circus! Clown college is ALOT cheaper than an out of state school, Papa!
P-lo is SO CHEEKY! Making googly eyes at the remote? Mommy's side of the family.
I'm getting confused by age in weeks. All I know is that Penny was exactly 4 months old the last time I posted and that was last week, so she's 4 months and one week old today.
She just went to the doctor and she weighs 14lbs, 2oz. She's 24 inches. Both about average. But the big news is her head! 75th Percentile! Big Head Penny! Big head, big brain, I always say.
Don't remember when this photo was taken. I do remember someone had a melt down right after it was taken. Possibly because of the unending flash.
A fake smile if I ever saw one.
Yes, that's drool on the front of P-lo's shirt, but let's not dwell on that. Let's concentrate on how cute she is. Penny tries on my hat.
When I opened the curtains, Penelope freaked out! A whole other world! And her first snowstorm!
And how was your Thanksgiving? I know what I am thankful for this year, besides not having to fly or drive anywhere this weekend. I am thankful for Penelope. So are a lot of people because we had a full house for dinner. Grandma Carol from Iowa, Grandpa Ed from Thailand, Grandma Leslis (Coya's mom) from Washington DC and our old pal Moe, our (Nina and Coya's) neighbor.
So much good food and none of it was liquid, well, except the gravy and as delicious as it was and given my tendencies to overeat even I wouldn't have drank a bottle of gravy. Too bad Penny, maybe next year!
Penny relaxes with a pre-dinner Pinot Noir and a tumbler of the finest Russian vodka.
Coya tries to re-shape the mohawk that once was there but is too long to stand up without some help.
Moe teaches Penny some new facial expressions.
P-lo with her parents.
With her re-shapped mohawk, Penny is feeling punk rock again and tells me what I can do with my camera.
Have I mentionned what a great baby Penelope is? Smiley and happy. A bit of an insomniac, but overal, such a fun kid to be around. Cute too!
Note to parents out there, if you ask me to change your child's clothes and your child has elements in his/her closet that resembles something I would wear, do not be surprised at the outcome.
Penny is skeptical.
Penny wishes she had more arm control and could do "jazz hands"...so for now, just inner jazz hands.
Penny thinks I'm loca.
Penny is bored.
...one million dollars!...
Flash back to 2 hours earlier, and P-lo is having a very leisurely morning, after an epic 10 hour sleep. She like to look at all the cool things in her little Play Dome. The toys and all the lights.
Leisurely, until someone put her on her stomach and took pictures of her meltdown.
Back on her back and Penny likes the red bird. She'll follow the bird with her eyes if you wave it in front of her. Also, you can tell by the picture that like her mother and aunt, she's going to LOVE fried chicken!
See being on your stomach isn't that bad.
So not only did she slep 10 hours the night before, but she napped during the day for a good combined total of 3-4 hours and that made for a happy baby getting ready for pajamas. Hey there...why the room [hic!] spinning around [hic!]?
